mounting a mini-humbucker in a humbucker slot

how do i fit a mini-hb in a hb slot?

it is on a tele thinline. the current hb was mounted directly on the thinline pickguard (without any mounting ring).

appreciate any suggestions.

A new pickguard with a mini-hum rout is likely the simplest option.

apparently it can be even  made in colors like tortoise (which is perfect for me) according to some custom pickup ring makers.

but price seems a bit steep.
