Finally found the wood under that red.
My guess is alder. Sufficiently brownish, no green, very light grain.

Could be basswood, bout the only way to really tell is that basswood is incredibly easy to dent. It's super soft, but alder is a bit denser and would be quite a bit heavier than basswood. :dontknow:
 
I had just assumed basswood is always a whiter color. But I just looked at a showcase basswood body that is extremely similar to this SG. Makes sense, because the brand is almost unknown, Tradition. I've only found one web page ever about this thing.
