Hello All. Full disclosure: I registered for this forum pretty much just so I could ask this...
Recently, I was browsing another guitar forum (OffsetGuitars) and saw a picture of a trans black offset semihollow. The headstock was branded Fender, so I assumed it was a one-off from the Custom Shop. Wanting to find out more about it, some quick Googling lead me here, where I discovered it was actually a DIY build using Warmoth's Mooncaster body.
I'm interested in looking into a Mooncaster build, but unfortunately Warmoth does not list size specifications on the website. I know the shape was inspired by Fender's Starcaster from the 70s, albeit a bit more...graceful, but as far as size goes, is it more ES-335 sized or PRS Hollowbody sized? The build I mentioned earlier made it look more like the latter, but the Custom Builder kind of makes it look more like the former. I'm 5'9", so wide semis aren't always comfortable. Plus, I play in a metal band (I'd post a link to our Bandcamp page, but I don't know how new users plugging is viewed here and the one song we have up isn't 100% representative of our overall sound) and while I know you can get heavy tones from ES-335s the vibe simply isn't there.
Man, I wish ESP hadn't pulled the doublecut Xtones...the singlecut is ugly by comparison if you ask me.
