Ok, it will be a long time before I pull the trigger on this purchase as I recently placed a large order with "W".

So anyone have anything good or bad to say about the Marshall MA 100 H and MA412?  I've watched a few Youtube Demo's (both Marshall and owners) and I like what I see.

I have an older Marshall 80's or 90's 30 watt (non tube forget the model number, will look it up tonight after work :laughing7:) and would like to get a tube amp.  No good reason, just want what I couldn't get when younger and poorer.  :glasses9:

I know it is made in Asia and has particle board construction but I'm not in a band so it will be treated very well.  My old one looks and sounds like new!

I've never heard one in real life, but the YouTube demos sound a tad harsh to me. Of course, it's tough to judge anything that way. Recording methods vary widely, as do user settings, and YouTube itself isn't kind to audio files.

If you can manage it at all, I'm sure it would be very enlightening to find someplace that sells the things and go crank one up for a test drive. Even if it's a substantial road trip, it's a decent chunk of change you're talking about, and even with liberal return policies shipping amps around is never cheap if you decide you're less than thrilled.

Yeah. I plan on checking one out before I'd buy.  I saw what seems like a good deal at guitar center.  They have restock heads for 599 and cabs for 399.  But there is a coupon for 200 off.  Still a lot of cash but seems like you could get a lot for the money.  Haven't read the fine print yet either though.

Got home and looked up the model on the old Marshall.  It is a 5210. It's a 50 watt solid state combo with a celestion g12m speaker.  It's from the early 90s.  It got some good reviews back in the day.

Oh well.  Still want something bigger and better.

I agree with Cagey, try it out.  There are a lot of amps that sound nice to me online, but when I try them, they just don't have the "IT" factor.  The Peavey 6505 amps are like that for me.  They just don't work for me.  A friend has one, loves it, and sounds great through it.  Me?  Not so much.  I have also had a bit of hit or miss experience with Marshall amps as well.  For me it was a lot more misses than hits.  Again, I think most of it is just how they fit me, and apparently it is not so great a lot of the time.  So I would also suggest to check them out with your guitar and see how they suit you.

Well.....  I went ahead and bought the complete unit.  I did go to the big box store to try one out and they did have one but it wasn't set up (plugged in or anything like that, more a display).  I also hate playing at those stores (I'm shy  :binkybaby:)

MA 100H and 412 cabinet.  The cabinet showed up at my door Tuesday and the head lsat night (Wednesday).  Unfortunately, last night I had a work conference call until late at night and really couldn't try it out as the rest of the house was getting ready for bed.  I did manage to set it up and have it on REAL LOW.  It sounded pretty good.  Today when I get home from work I'll  mess with it a little more.  :party07:

I just realized in my hurry last hight I had the cabinet plugged into the 8 Ohms instead of the 16.  I'll fix that when I get home.

As far as looks and perceived quality, it looks great!

Oh yeah, they are mde in Vietnam.  I'm not extremely happy with that as a fact but I must say I work in the US for a Chinese company (truely owned mostly by the Chinese Government).  My nationalistic beliefs left me when GM cut all of us and took my pension!!  That's another forum!!!!!

Well got home from work yesteday before the rest of the family and played around on the AMP.  I must say, I'm pretty impressed.  I'm no working musician, just a basement  / bedroom hacker but WOW.  So far so good!  I haven't put any pedal to it yet but really didn't need to the hour or two I messed around.

I plugged my Warmoth Tele (strat electronics) and the sound was great.  (see pict) I then plugged in my Gibson Les Paul Gold Top Deluxe (mini humbuckers) and was still impressed with the AMP.  I must say though, I thnk I like my Warmoth better!!!

I need to weigh the guitars but the Tele is TON heavier!  Again I don't play out so wight savings is not a big deal.  The tone is just as good as is the sustain.  The construction FEELS and LOOKS as good (except for some minor details that our my fault.  The knobs don't rotate on the level on my Warmoth, and tht drives me crazy.  I need to take them off and see if I can get them straighter)

Anyway, the weekend is about to start and I hope to be able to add more to this by Monday!
