Maple/Pau Ferro neck on Swamp Ash body? Too bright?

Ok so I just ordered a light, 2 piece, swamp ash strat body (just under 4lbs). I have Texas Specials for the neck and middle pickups and an Air Norton in the bridge. I want a sharp, bright sound but still warm with decent sustain. Would a maple neck with a pau ferro fretboard make the highs too piercing or shrill? Has anyone done a similar build with anything they could share? Or maybe some advise on a better neck wood combination given the sound I want to achieve?  Anything would be helpful!

I own a tom anderson swamp ash strat wth a puo ferro over maple neck and I love it. It is resonant and very balanced soundwise. I would describe its sound as hifi and very well suited for clean and crunch sounds from pop to funk to what name you... The only thing I never liked is its heavy distorted sound - but that could be because of the singlecoil in the bridge position.
It has 3 noiseless tom anderon singlecoils in it and a two point classic trem.

To sum it up - bright, resonant and kinda on the shap side - thats what you get.

It depends on more things like the potentiometers value, pickups, amp & speakers. My strat has the same woods and it's a balanced instrument. I had an all rosewood neck first and I prefer the guitar now. If your highs would be shrill start from your potentiometers first, your pickups second and then with your speakers.

Sounds like a good combo to me.

Should be bright, but it's a Strat.  IIRC, the SRV Strat has Texas Specials with a maple neck and pao ferro fretboard.  Guitars have pots, and so do amps.

My fireburst W strat has a chambered ash/maple body with a maple/pf neck and DiMarzio VV'54 Pro (bridge), Area '61 (middle) and Area '58 (neck) PU's.

It's not particularly bright and certainly not piercing or shrill - it basically sounds like a strat.  :dontknow:
