Is there some specific reason why we never see this anywhere? I'm assuming it's not because of a glue issue because you can put veneers on headstocks..
So what gives? :icon_scratch:

Maple fretboards existed because they were cheap.
They were replaced with rosewood because it didn't need a finish, plus it was a bit more traditional.

I've seen them done very well here...

I've always wondered why Warmoth never does these.

Quite a few places do them.  Warmoth has said why they don't do it.

Well I haven't heard, so share?

I think they're damn cool. Which has me wanting one.

Expansion contraction issues with dissimilar woods.  For instance, and for whatever reasons, a Maple neck with Rosewood fretboard is easier than a Rosewood neck and Maple fretboard....or something like that.

If I remember correctly, maple "moves" quite a bit.  I don't seem to be able to describe anything well this afternoon, but I don't think it was suitable to the big W's standards because of this, or something similar.

Plus having to finish just the fretboard and mask off the back of the neck, pretty tedious maybe,  :dontknow:

I have a flamed maple fingerboard on a cocobolo fingerboard.  Non-W, but it's sweet.

Wish W did this.
