It's obvious for a guitar but more subtil for a bass.

Interesting. The effect is much more pronounced on guitar than on bass, however I found that it was much more useful too. The piezo, to my ears at least, sounded too crunchy and brittle on the bass, whereas on the guitar it was definitely useable, if a bit trebly.
