Leland Sklar's Bass

Leland Sklar, session bassist extraordinaire, is seen here with an unusual neck on his bass. Can anyone here tell me more about this bass guitar?  Could this be one of those "ergonomic" necks that someone invented back in the 80's?  See Leland's "Selected Discography" at the link. I guess a full discography would take up too much band width.  Turns out that's Leland's bass work on Billy Thorpe's Children of the Sun :glasses10:

Yeah, he's a bit weird looking, but he hasn't been called to play with everyone over the past 30+ years for his looks. Cat can throw down the low notes. His sound always reminded me of a mellow Duck Dunn.

He's one of those guys that it's probably easier to name the people he hasn't played with.  I'd bet everyone owns something he's played on whether they know it or not.

At first glance I would've bet some sort of Peavey, but ya'll nailed it already.  He's also been seen playing Yamahas, so that would've been a good starting point too.
