Hi all! My first build is done :headbang:

It took me a while to get some pictures of my new VIP, but here they are! I'm definitely no photographer, and the camera isn't exactly the best either... so I had trouble capturing something remotely similar to the real thing...

I'd say the picture of the whole guitar gives the best representation of the wenge top. It's almost as dark, and the sheen is quite accurate however you can see more details in the wood than the picture shows. The close-ups give the wenge a more reddish color than it really is - but is more accurate on the grain and such... You get the idea - hope you like them anyway!

It's a warmoth pro angeled neck, with a 1 11/16" nut width, standard thin back contour, SS6105 stainless steel frets, planet waves tuners.

The pickups are PRS HFS treble, and PRS Vintage Bass.

I used 4 coats of Birchwood Casey's tru-oil on the body and then used steelwool to get a more satin finish. Never done anything like that before but I found it easy and I'm very pleased with the results - so in case you're thinking of doing the same, it's no problemo... :icon_thumright:

It weighs 4,3kilos and sounds simply incredible! Enjoy!

Thanks thing is AWESOME!  Be sure to under it in a GOTM contest.

I assume there is no stain or dryes at all used.  Looks great.

tell us about the electronics...Is that lttle knob a 3 way?  5 way?

Did you use the oil on the neck too?

Fantastic first build  :headbang1:

Yea, I am curious as to how you finished the neck also...

:kewlpics: :rock-on:

I'm not easily wowed, but... WOW :eek:

Tell us about the sound! Record, videotape! Anything ;D

Thanks everyone!

Nothing but tru-oil was used - and only the body was oiled. I left the neck raw they way nature intended - and its really fast:D

Also the wenge on the neck was a lot darker than on the top, so it evened out nicely once the body was oiled anyhow. Perfect=)

As for the electronics setup its http://www.stewmac.com/freeinfo/Electronics/Wiring_diagrams/i-0207.html all the way! PRS Humbucking setup, these are the different combinations;

1. Neck humbucker
2. Outer coils in parallel
3. Outer coils in series
4. Inner coils in parallel
5. Bridge humbucker

I'll be sure to submit it to GOTM:D

Ok - some recording done quick and to the pointless just for you....

Clean is simply that. No amplification, pod bypassed and straight into the firepod...

Sorry, didn't bother doing any sound-settings for this... I have to do them all over again for this guitar, and I haven't gotten there yet! Suffice to say these suck except the kayleigh sound, love that one=)

Pod x3-live clips;
Highway 100 some dirt is a Hiwatt with some dirt, and bass, mid and treble on 50%
Highway 100 clean is a clean hiwatt...
Treadplate is a mesa boogie, simple settings there as well...

And last, but not least... a small bonus just for fun - The solo from Marillions Kayleigh - on the first take! lucky I guess :eek:ccasion14:

It's comfortable, precise and real punchy to play. It's quite a leap from my two strats - and I have some adjustment to do=) Keeping this beast under control is a lot harder......

All clips use all pickup positions... starting at 1.
1. Neck humbucker
2. Outer coils in parallel
3. Outer coils in series
4. Inner coils in parallel
5. Bridge humbucker

Enjoy=)

Resounding approval! :icon_thumright: I would never leave position 1 and 2, sounds fantastic. Never heard that solo before, but nice playing :)
