Hi all! My first build is done :headbang:
It took me a while to get some pictures of my new VIP, but here they are! I'm definitely no photographer, and the camera isn't exactly the best either... so I had trouble capturing something remotely similar to the real thing...
I'd say the picture of the whole guitar gives the best representation of the wenge top. It's almost as dark, and the sheen is quite accurate however you can see more details in the wood than the picture shows. The close-ups give the wenge a more reddish color than it really is - but is more accurate on the grain and such... You get the idea - hope you like them anyway!
It's a warmoth pro angeled neck, with a 1 11/16" nut width, standard thin back contour, SS6105 stainless steel frets, planet waves tuners.
The pickups are PRS HFS treble, and PRS Vintage Bass.
I used 4 coats of Birchwood Casey's tru-oil on the body and then used steelwool to get a more satin finish. Never done anything like that before but I found it easy and I'm very pleased with the results - so in case you're thinking of doing the same, it's no problemo... :icon_thumright:
It weighs 4,3kilos and sounds simply incredible! Enjoy!
