Owner says this is a koa top, would you guys agree?

Looks more like black korina to me.  The wood looks a little more yellow than koa, and the dark streaks are characteristic of black korina, also known as black limba.

I agree, grain pattern is indicative of BK more so than Koa. Without seeing in person or hi-reso pics, I'd give 90% it's BK.

It could be Koa, but it would be a pretty nondescript piece if it is (see Koa examples). I agree with the others in that it looks more like black Limba, but it would be a pretty nondescript piece of that as well. In any event, not something that would justify any kind of premium price, if that's the issue.

edit: Not to say it isn't attractive - that's a nice-looking guitar. If it sounds good and plays well, I'd forgive the less obvious figure in the wood.

BK was my impression as well, thanks for the second opinions.  I think I'll be saving up for the new carve top #2 so I'll probably pass on this one.  $650 if anyone is interested, just type "warmoth" in the Guitar Center search bar and it'll come up.  It's pretty plain jane but, who knows, could be a real player.  If not, just return it to your local store.

That looks like no Koa grain pattern I've ever seen, figured or not.  Unless the finish is after-market, Warmoth wouldn't have done a black paint job on a Koa top.

Even with seeing the not-so-figured Koa strat there, the grain lines of Koa are just so much denser in quantity than all of the Korina I've seen.  The grain pattern on there just doesn't scream Koa to me, but maybe that's because there's a paint job on there.
