Do you think it's possible to record the guitar sound from an album which maybe a intro is guitar only? I know some guitar sounds I really like with only guitar in the beginning and maybe getting a Kemper is a good way to go since there are no or little information about what actual gear was used.

I don't know if the KPA can do that. My understanding is it can "profile" a piece of gear so it can be reproduced through a transparent amp driving some FRFR speaker(s). But, first you need the piece of gear you want to profile. It's kinda like creating an IR of a speaker cabinet. I could be wrong, though. I don't own a KPA.

I do know that what you want to do can be done with an AxeFX II. People do it all the time. They cost a bit more, but they do a lot more.

But by reading about the process here:

What is Profiling?

"Profiling is as simple as plugging your tube amp into the Kemper Profiler and pressing ‘record.’ Just insert the Kemper Profiling amplifier into the recording chain and it will do its magic. Test signals will be sent from the Kemper Profiler Amplifier into your tube amp and recorded by the microphone in front of your cabinet.

You don’t even have to play your guitar. After less than a minute the Kemper Profiler acquires the sonic DNA of your tube amp and offers you the resulting custom profile. You can then use the A/B comparison mode to compare original tube amp sound with the profiled sound. This gives you a fast and convenient way to make final tweaks to the profile to get it exactly right."

It seems not be the way to do it (lift a "tone" from a record).

Right. I just looked up the manual here, and my understanding is correct. In order to profile a piece of gear, you need the piece of gear. At least, with the KPA.

You could play the album through speakers and mic them up, right?  :dontknow:

I don't wanna register on another forum just for one question either

You could - but you will not get the full range profiling which comes from:

"Test signals will be sent from the Kemper Profiler Amplifier into your tube amp and recorded by the microphone in front of your cabinet."

So there will be no actual profiling taking place if you feed another signal through than the test signal.

Well. I just think it would be better to direct any questions to the persons who will most likely know and give the correct answers. YMMV.

I can confirm that this is not possible. To profile an amp, the KPA sends signals to the amp and then sees (or hears if you prefer) what the amp does with them. So, it is taking note of what the output is, given a known input. A record does not have enough information - it's an output, but from an unknown input.

Ok then I get how it works, thanks.  :toothy12:

However, I think you could get some pretty fun sounds by adding effects and maybe play songs during that profiling process  :glasses9:
