So, after several years with my wonderful Warmoth, I've finally got around to giving it the electronics I've always planned for it. I just picked up a set of P-Rails (Seymour Duncan), and after two days of deliberating, I've figured out what controls I want on the thing. I'm having the darndest time finding good info on how to wire it up, though. Seymour has a couple wiring diagrams, but other than that, they just say "use Triple Shot", which I personally wouldn't touch with a ten ft. pole.

Anywho, here's how (in theory) I wanna set it up.

1X Volume (1st Poisition)
1X TBX Tone Control (2nd Position)
2X Rotary Switches (3rd Position and Switch Position)

It seems like this particular solution should be pretty straightforward, but I haven't done much guitar wiring. The volume is just that: volume, for everything. The TBX is the same, a tone control for everything.

One rotary for each P-rail, giving 5 selection options:

1. Rail
2. Both coils in parallel
3. P90
4. Both coils in series
5. OFF

From my limited understanding, I believe what I need are 4-pole rotary switches, which are available with 5 positions.

Any help or links would be very much appreciated. I'd rather wire it up myself, as I'm capable of soldering, etc.

2 side notes:

I've noticed that some people mod their TBX control to various degrees. If you've tried any mods, I'd like to hear your opinion of them.

Also, I was seriously hoping to put the Eric Clapton Mid Boost kit in it as well, but I got cold feet after reading some sources that said it is only designed to work with noiseless pups, and that with non-noisless pups, it doesn't play nice. If you've tried the Clapton Mid Boost with non-noiseless pups, or have any thoughts on the matter, fire away.

Try this guy.
I didn't see exactly what you were looking for but he does do p rails & rotary switches and you may find something suitable.

Or; Go to SD Forum & ask there. There are more people there that use P rails and should be able to answer your ?s

Well, I've really done it now  :blob7:

Everything is ordered up, and I decided to dive all the way in. The two P-Rails will each be getting their own 5-way black chicken head knob. The TBX will get a P-Bass knob, and I've decided to try my luck with the Clapton Boost circuit, so in the Volume position, there'll be a stacked P-Bass knob with volume on the big knob and that awesome 25DB mid boost on the small knob.

To top it all off, I splurged on a Spitfire brand Tortoise guard. This is probably the last time I have my guitar apart for a redesign (at least for the foreseeable future), and I just couldn't bring myself to put any old slab of plastic on top. The last small touch is black screws all round.

I'll not be wiring it up myself. I've decided to take it in to the pros and have them do it. That way it'll get its once-over and be set for the next few years (Warmoth double truss necks really do hold like nothing else I've ever played).
