Will a Fender pickguard fit a Warmoth body? Also does anyone know why the pickguard goes around the bridge on a Fender but not on a Warmoth?

Because it helps to assure compatibility with a wider range of bridges.

Not exactly. You'll have to drill the mounting holes in the body holes either way, but with the Fender part you may have to shave the mating point between the lower control plate and the pickguard, as well as the lower forward switch plate opening. Seems like I had to modify the bridge clearance as well, but my memory is foggy there. You're better off buying the Warmoth part.
