Always dreamed of having an overkill build that could do jazz cleans to heavy prog stuff. Made it happen during lockdown with a Warmoth body and neck. So here's the breakdown of the components for this 24 frets Jazzmaster.
-Body: Basswood with Flamed Maple top, comfort and heel contours, 1 F-hole, Floyd Rose. Brush painted the base coats with industrial woodstains and sealed the deal with a hardener coat.
-Neck: Roasted Maple with reverse headstock and equipped with LSR nut, locking tuners and 24 6100 stainless steel frets. Wizard profile and 10-16" compound radius. Unfinished and raw wood. Mmm.
-Had to rout the HHH pickup cavity into a swimming pool one as Warmoth doesn't offer swimming pool rout for Jazzmaster bodies or 24 fret pickup rout reposition. Also, haven't really seen builds that utilise 24 fret extension necks on bodies meant for traditional 22 fret access. Have long enough fingers so 23/24 fret access is unimpeded for me (phew... what a gamble this was!)
-Went with gold hardware and got gold foils for the neck and bridge and filtertron for the middle pickup.
-Added an arcade style killswitch at the top and a 5 way pickup selector switch and 3 on/on/on toggles for individual coil splitting for each pickup. Also, 1 volume and 3 individual tone pots and a Strat-style top jack.
Nasty build!
