Jani Lane dead at 47

Driving into work this morning with my mp3 player on shuffle, it just happen to choose "Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich" as one of the songs to play .... and now I hear about this!

Very sad, and WAY too young to pass away.

I actually dug him and them.  He can do the singing/acoustic thing better than most cheesy singer song writers you'd find in any college town coffee shop, and it wasn't even a big part of their sound.  The Cherry Pie thing, he supposedly hated it and distanced from it.  Of course it was years after he'd made his millions from it and everyone else was sick of it.

CC DeVille played on that track.  :party07:

I'd heard that too. That can't feel too great if you're the guitarist in the band, can it?

"You're great and all, man, but we're gonna get this guy here to play on this one, ok?" :help:

It was probably just a harmless collab. Not unusual to meet someone, get friendly and just be like, hey come play on our cd. Happens all the time.

Supposedly the whole album was completely done and was going to be called Uncle Tom's Cabin.  The record company didn't like it and wanted one more song to be the single and Jani wrote Cherry Pie in one night.  Not sure how CC ended up playing on it, (I believe it's just the solo anyway).  Probably all part of the last minute nature of the song.
