Is this a real Warmoth?

Hi, I bought what was supposed to be a bass made with a Warmoth neck & body - standard Fender size.  When I opened up the neck pocket instead of the Warmoth turtle there is an ink stamp reading "IC NOV 98".  Is this a real Warmoth?  If not, any idea what this is?  Any help would be appreciated.

Whoops, didn't see the no turtle part

I'm fairly certain Warmoth has been using the turtle since way before 1998

Take off the pickguard, Fender puts little divots on the top under the pickguard, I assume for the CNC routing and / or paint. Should be a turtle in the neck pocket and on the neck itself though.

Perusing the web, that label indicates it's a Squire made by Cort in Indonesia ("IC"); from '98 on, those were all Agathis bodies.

To tell the truth, some of the "Made in Indonesia" Squire Strats made back in the late '90's/early 00's (usually had CBS headstocks) were generally better quality, especially the necks, than the MIM's made in the same time period that cost $100-200 more...

Yeah, I had a Cort strat. It was a great guitar - beautiful flame maple on the neck. My guitar instructor was blown away the guitar was only $120.

I bought a Squire strat back in about '85  it was an awesome guitar, it was stolen in '86 when I went overseas to the fillipines. It was stored back at the base, Dale Scruggs took it in case any of you know him
