Trying to decide which input jack size to choose.  I'm planning to have a prs/gibson style square plate.  I saw a few posts and looked at Warmoth's material but I'm still a little confused on if I should choose 3/4" (19mm) or 1/2" (13mm).  Thanks!

Always go for the 7/8" hole. The 1/2" hole is for those goofy panel jacks, and I'm not sure what the 3/4" hole is for. A standard 1/4" TR/TRS jack doesn't fit it well, if at all.

You can put a football or square mounting plate over the 7/8" hole, so no worries there.

yup....7/8.  You can also put the tele style inputs in there too.

If you help Jack on a horse?

Cord goes in, and that's usually the part that requires the concentration, at least more than unplugging.  Construction, signal path, industry nomenclature, etc. probably play less of a role in it's laymen description than the cognitive act of insertion.  Can't believe we've never discussed this before.

To elaborate: The 1/2" deep panel jacks look really cool, and they're easy to wire up, but when one zoinks... it's just zoinked. You can stare at it, yell at it, cuss and such, but you certainly better keep a spare around, cause there's no hope. On the regular (7/8") open jack, they do wear out, it's a good idea to keep a sack of them around, but even in their death throes you usually can bend the prong back with your finger to finish one more gig.
