Indian Rosewood

Hi, Im looking at ordering a tele neck with Indian Rosewood fretboard. Can anyone tell me about the 'Indian Rosewood (DARK)' option? It seems to be quite a bit more? Do they just dye it darker? Why?

The dark option is darker rosewood. Certainly not dyed. It costs more because dark rosewood is rarer and the demand is there for it to command a higher price.

There are a lot of varieties of rosewood. And they can vary in tonal quality and appearance. Darker Indian rosewood is believed by some to be closer in tonal quality to the old Brazilian Rosewood that was the favorite for a long time. Many also like it's looks. Because of this, and has been mentioned it's rarity, it tends to cost more........... :headbang:

Is there any sound difference between the standard indian Rosewood and 'dark' indian Rosewood?

That depends largely on who you ask, and which particular piece of wood you get. Wood works in mysterious ways. You can take two pieces of wood cut from the same section of the same tree and they might turn out sounding completely different. You never know for sure.
