I have an old Altec 425 8H-II. Its a 10inch speaker thats build like a tank. Its extremely heavy, the Alnico 5 magnet is huge. It has a 3 inch voice coil. And its rated at 75 watts. I have it loaded into its own little closed back cab. I have a 100 watt Peavey Windsor head (they suck, unless you swap the preamp tubes). I run it with a 2x12 loaded with a pair of Eminence Canibas Rex, both rated at 50 watts.
My plan is to run the Altec along with the 2x12 at gigs. But I wonder if I can use it with the head by itself without damaging it. I'd hate to blow it, its kinda rare. But it's freakin loud, too. How insane would that be? A 100 watt head into a 1x10 that could handle the power.
