I mean, sure, it's a lovely guitar, but...

$6400?  For a discontinued VW (i.e., EBMM Axis/EVH clone), I can see possibly paying a premium over some other Warmoth axe - but even with top'o'the line appointments, and some extremely pretty wood - which this one admittedly has - we're still talking about a parts guitar.  Real EVH signature models aren't even going for half that.

If we're lucky, it's another case of someone's wife demanding that the herd be thinned. Otherwise, probably either a fool that thinks his assembly work is worth a premium, or a scammer. Could also be a case of someone believing the rarity of the item justifies tremendous price inflation.

If you read, many people are looking for a neck that will fit this pocket and vice versa.  Apparently no one will make a neck to fit this body anymore-including music man/ernie ball.

I thought that those had standard Strat neck pockets, like the rest of Warmoth's bodies?

I thought so, too. Seems to me all Warmoth neck pockets are Fender standard (2 3/16" x 3" x .625"), with some of them having accommodation for square heels such as a Tele-style necks. Even the super-wides and baritones use that pocket.

Body Color: Trans Red
Body Type: Solid
Body Material: Solid Wood

Maybe a color blind surviving spouse selling it off? Or a divorce sale?

This is always my first thought.  It usually comes after a guitar purchase and the dude promises he will sell a guitar to pay for it then ends up keeping both.  Not that I've ever done that or anything.

I've also put up guitars for ridiculously high prices just to see if someone will bite, you never know.  I've also found that if you start high on a "buy it now" and then gradually lower the price or include the "make an offer", you can get more than a traditional auction.  But, after recently being the victim of the "empty box return" scam I won't be selling anything high-dollar on eBay anymore.

I think the guy is probably conflating some disparate ideas, including the fact that EBMM heels/pockets are not the same as Fender-standard.  If the EVH model had something different from the rest of the EBMM line, that might explain it.  I'm not interested in researching further.  The solution is trivial and is left as an exercise for the reader, as they say.

No, not in a million years. If (s)he's very lucky, it'll move at $1,400-$1,600 in a private sale to a motivated buyer. Something less than that on eBay.

I suspect many people don't check the "completed sales" listings on eBay to see what others are actually getting for similar products vs. what they ask for.

That dude is totally off his rocker. I sold my "real" EBMM EVH sig a few years ago, it was in near mint condition and I was only able to get $3400. And it wasn't even a rare one, in was red, probably the most produced color. But if he gets $6400 for it, then I'm putting my Warmoth VW on the block...

I should be able to 8-G's for mine..... :icon_jokercolor:

"Silly rabbit everyone knows Warmoths have no resale value.... :tard:"

Exactly one of the reasons I got into partscasters this time around in my relationship with the guitar. I will be disinclined to sell anything, use what I have, and stick with it.

Actually the guitar linked in the first post is (in my opinion) really ugly  :sad1: the only good thing is the blue dye with gold hardware (that always looks good, and also extra points for both humbucker and singlecoil mounting rings!)

While I prefer solid color on guitars, I can appreciate nice quilt/flame maple tops, and maybe clear coated mahogny/dark woods on bodies (never been a fan of exotic stuff on necks tho)... But the linked "super small quilts" was just plain ugly.  :icon_scratch:

Nah, those pickup rings are hideous, tasteless things.

The knobs are mismatched and unsuiting, as well. The blue does not match the top, and one knob is plain. That's easily fixed, however.

Overall, it isn't too bad.

There are 11 watching.  I bet they are all from this forum just curious to know if it will ever be offloaded.

I imagine he's just fishing for somebody to "lowball" him with a $700-type offer. Which of course he'll immediately accept with a furious fist-pump.
