of yourself with your grandkid(s). I'll start: here is five year old Madeline reading her alphabet book to me. She wrote and illustrated it herself - it's really quite well done. The black and white blur at our feet is Tuki the dog.

More bragging (it's allowed for grandkids, Mom and Dad): Maddy is the current Student of the Month at her kindergarten.

Cutie! Get her going on that alphabet.... Only a few letters you need to know. Let me see....

E-A-T-A-F-O-O-D, P-L-A-Y-G-I-T-A-R, G-O-2-S-L-E-A-P

Those are my favorites. :toothy12:

I just got back from visiting my grandparents for the first time in years.... It's weird. They move like slugs, have let their two chihuahuas get extremely obese, and I'm taller than them. Things have changed so fast for me and for them, I often wish I had more time with them. Spend plenty of time with that little girl, she deserves it.

I'm not a grandpa yet, but my next youngest brother has two grandchildren from his eldest daughter, so I sorta understand the fascination. And they're equally fascinated by me.

"You're grampas brother?"
"Yeah, but it's not his fault. I was here first."
"What?"

Stupid kids.

But, mostly, they just stare. I don't know what they're waiting for. Maybe I should grow wings or something.

Yip, I got 5...

ya, I got a good buddy that has nieces and nephews older than he is. His brother and sister are like 25-30yrs older than he is..

I'm cheating. You know the bumper sticker that says "If I'd known how much fun grandkids were, I'd have had them first?" We tried, but found out pretty quickly it doesn't quite work that way.

Here's my boy (and yes, I'm old enough to be his granddady), figuring out that the problem with my bass is that the volume knob is on 0. (It works better for me that way). Perhaps the wierdest thing about having kids not only so late in life, but also much later than your siblings... is the realization that you might actually consider your siblings rug rats as potential guardians now.

Whoa, that's got to be weird.  Families can get very strange when you have age gaps like that, especially if you go to school with your uncle or aunt or whoever.
