I am at a point in life, even though I am still a Beginner at Guitar, that I want to put me a Custom Warmoth Guitar completed to my Specs!! I am not sure about the body just yet, but have narrowed down to where i know I don't want Basswood, it's too soft a wood, as I have one in an Ibanez RG350EX with a Edge 3 Trem. and i do like the Trem, but is a pain in the rump to string up.
The Guitar I'm going to Build will have a Wilkinson Tremolo, and 1st choice in Pickups, Seymour Duncan Everything Axe Pickups, or 2nd choice in Pickups, a Hot Rail in the Bridge, Vintage Rail in the Middle, and Cool Rail in the Neck. My 3rd choice in Pickups is 2 Seymour Duncan humbuckers, SH-4 JB in the Bridge, and a 59 in the Neck. ALL options will have 1 Volume, 2 Tone with Push/pull coil Taps on each Tone, and along with that, maybe 2 mini Swithes for changing from Paralell to single and so on.
I am looking for any suggestions on any of the Pickup configurations, and would like to hear from someon or anyone who has maybe done one of these configurations, and what you think about that choice. :guitaristgif:
One little side note, I don't intend on being a Prefessional, I am out to just Learn and have fun on the Guitar, and maaybe one day, play with others!

My only advice is to make a decision and stick to it, otherwise you'll drive yourself crazy.

Yep what they said  :icon_thumright:

All good choices in the pickups.
I would lean to your 1st choice of pickups.
Or …. the very last one listed below, as another option may-be.  :dontknow:
Really all depends on what you want ….. so many to choose from, you end up needing to build more than one guitar.

Using Humbuckers ….
Can NEVER go wrong with a '59 in the neck, even better with a Triple Shot used.  :icon_thumright:
Or
Even using a JB in the bridge. Both good pickups.

But everyone will have different opinions / tastes / combo's etc.

If you are using Humbuckers, can always use SD Triple Shots.
Saves drilling / mounting holes, other switches etc.

I ONLY have a couple using SD Pup's  :laughing11:

1) Strat  SSS http://www.unofficialwarmoth.com/index.php?topic=16573.0
Cool Rails (N)
Vintage Rails (M)
Hot Rails (B)
In Mahogany (chambered) with a Maple neck / Canary fretboard. (will be changing to a RAW neck)
Yep good combo. Pretty common configuration.
I used these because I got recommended them, when I started building some toys.
Plus wanted something decent to use with my Roland VG-99 and GR-55 together with the GK-3 pickup.
You can always change your neck and middle pickups about too. There the same pup.

2) Strat SSH  http://www.unofficialwarmoth.com/index.php?topic=19269.0
SD Cool Rails (N)
SD Hot Rails (M)
SD Humbucker Dimebucker (B) with SD Triple Shot
In Black Korina (chambered) with RAW neck Pau-Ferro / Macassar fretboard
This is one that is right at the top of my fav list. Perfect !!
Very happy with the mix of the Humbucker with the singles.

3) Strat  SSH  http://www.unofficialwarmoth.com/index.php?topic=17131.0
SD Little '59 (N)
SD Li'l Screamin' Demon (M)
Gibson Humbucker, Dirty Fingers (B)
Alder (solid) with a Maple neck / Ziricote fretboard (will be changing to a RAW neck)
Loved the sound of this combo from day one. Has 3 mini switches for each pup.
Good mix / sounds.

4) Strat HxH  http://www.unofficialwarmoth.com/index.php?topic=17678.0
SD Humbucker Jazz (N)
SD Humbucker JB (B)
Mahogany (solid) with a RAW neck Concalo Alves / Pau-Ferro fretboard
Very common combo, All thou …. undecided on these.
:dontknow:  I might play around and mix these with others.
Anyway, I'd use my strat with Bare Knuckle Humbuckers over any other HxH I have.

Just Finished these 2 ... with SD's
5) Strat HxH  http://www.unofficialwarmoth.com/index.php?topic=19826.0
SD 59' Humbucker  (N)
SD Custom 5 Humbucker  (B)
Swamp Ash (chambered) with a RAW neck Wenge / Wenge fretboard.
Really liking this combo. This hangs on the wall in my home studio for a quick dual humbucker to grab.

6) Tele  SST  http://www.unofficialwarmoth.com/index.php?topic=19843.0
SD Scream'in Demon (N)
SD Duckbucker (M)
SD Quarter Pounder Tele pickup (B).
Black Korina (chambered) with a RAW neck Bocote / Ziricote fretboard.
Crossed between a Tele / Strat sound. Bit of everything …. Love it !!

Had a V with a '59 (N) and a Dimebucker (B) with Triple shots ….. great combo that.

A mates I helped build has …
Dimarzio  Area 58 (N)
Dimarzio  Area 58 (M)
Dimarzio  Area 61 (B)
Mahogany (solid) with a RAW neck Pau-Ferro / Pau-Ferro fretboard.
These are top class pickups, plenty of variation.
If you want the real true strat / quack sounds, these are them.
If you were disappointed with those Aera's, you'd need your ears cleaned out.  :laughing7:

And guess what ……  all those above, sound different in there own way.  :icon_biggrin:

My next build has Area '58 (N) '61 (M) '67 (B)
BTW …. Get a RAW neck, you will love it and it will even make you play better. Did for me ………  :guitarplayer2:

The End

My advice would be to nail down what kind of pickups you want first.  The tone you get from a guitar is largely derived from the pickups you have (and the amp you play).  The rest of the stuff, neck construction, fretboard, wood type ect all just color that tone in more subtle ways.  What kind of guitar do you have now?  What pickups does it have?  I would go with something that is different than your current setup so you have some nice versatility.  My "tele" has HB sized p90's, I have a hollow body I built with humbuckers and my next project will be an sss strat.  All the bases covered.

Thanks guys, it really means a lot!  :icon_thumright:
as far as the Neck goes, I was and still am considering aPadouk Neck with Pau Ferro, but might even consider a Birdseye Maple, but I have felt a Raw Padouk Neck, and abso;utely LOVED ever second I could stand from my Guitar Instructor who's built a few Warmoth Guitar's
