To be totally fool proof, get a can of "=CB='s No Foolin'!" spray!~
Put the pickup in the ring, everything in the cavity, wire it up. Do that to each pickup. String the axe up. Now you can align the left/right spacing on the poles with the E strings. Center it forward/backward. If you carefully fold/cut a business card, you can make a "parallel" gauge so that both pickups are dead nuts parallel with each other. If they are, and they're also centered, then they are also perpendicular to the centerline of the strings. The previous all affirmative, also make sure the strings are centered on the neck before doing this.
