Humbucker from Heck

Hello everyone,

I am about to begin my first Warmoth build!  I have just begun deciding on all of the parts I'll be using.

As of right now I'm thinking I would like an Alder SG body style with a Maple/Maple neck and an HH pickup configuration.  Basically I would like to have a cross between a Strat and an SG.

In the past I have used DiMarzio pickups and have loved them.  So I have pretty much decided on an AT-1 in the bridge.  For the neck position, I would like to have something reminiscent of a Strat single coil, but I would like a humbucker (for aesthetics really). In my hunt for a Humbucker sized Single coil, I stumbled upon the DiMarzio Humbucker from Hell.  I realize its not exactly a single coil, and I could probably get what I'm looking for by coil tapping any pickup.  But I'm curious.

So, my question for everyone here is:
Have you used a Humbucker From Hell, made by DiMarzio, in the neck position of your guitar?

Also, any comments about my very limited concept for a build would be appreciated.

Thanks a lot!

I've used the Humbucker From Hell and was pretty pleased with the results. Probably won't end up sounding authentically like a strat, but it'll be more clear and open sounding than any standard humbucker will.

GFS Liverpool is a nice crisp but sweet and still humbucking option for HB route. Of course it has the funky retro aesthetics, but I did like what I heard while researching.

You have plenty of options in this day and age for sure. If you're not specifically looking for a hum-cancelling pickup, then there's a handful of true single coils on the market that fit humbucker routes. I've got two P90 style pups from Roadhouse Pickups (TroubleTreble here on the board) that I absolutely love in the neck position on both my main axes. And plenty of people swear by GFS Mean 90's and other GFS pickups
