How dark would a rosewood neck make a tele deluxe, as opposed to a maple neck?

Toying with going for an all rosewood neck and board to stick on this Tele Deluxe body I just ordered from the showcase. I am a fan of bright guitar sounds though, and worry that in comparison to a maple neck and board this would sound too dark and I'd lose a lot of the bite. Am I right in thinking this or will the P90s I'm putting in the guitar, 500k pots, 25.5" scale compensate enough for this? I still want the cut and bite to be there, but the rosewood looks soooo sweet.

Slash tone sounds muddy? Page? I don't think so... Rosewood has a tone alike Mahogany...

Depends on the pickup, even a humbucker can make it sounds cool in 24.75" scale full rosewood neck...

I'll be going with P90s (hum sized P90s) and it'll be on an alder body with a 25.5" so I guess it'll be bright enough.

The idea of playing a totally unfinished neck takes some getting used to. I have this image of it feeling raw and rough that I am having trouble shaking.

I had the same worries before I ordered my Canary neck, but once I got it, it was so smooth. To give an idea, rub your hand across a plain piece of paper, that's about how smooth it is.

Should be pretty similar to a mahogany neck, I got lucky and picked up one of the original set-neck Telecasters with 2 HB that came out a while back, they still make something similar you might be able to find/play in shop to compare: http://www.fender.com/products/search.php?partno=0262000561

Not "dark" at all...

This video may help answer your question:
That's quite the A/B.  I really have no idea why I dislike maple necks so much and pretty much always have.  I just don't hear anything I like. . . they always sound so green, like they were cut out of a sapling, not dried enough, and then thrown on the barbecue-pit where they snap and snarl, smoke furiously, yet never quite catch fire.

my problem is that i love the look of a maple neck, but dislike the feel. i think i'll still be trying a maple neck on my next project, but i'm a tiny bit hesitant.

I have to say that personally I find the difference tone-wise between maple and rosewood boards somewhat exaggerated. I've owned some bright rosewood  boarded guitars, and some rather dull maple boarded guitars. Many players say they wouldn't be able to tell the difference in a blind test.

I am more interested in how different a FULL rosewood neck would sound as opposed to a rosewood boarded, maple necked one. There has to be a more dramatic difference.

If you're just talking about fretboard, there's not a tremendous amount of difference; an ALL rosewood neck, as you asked about in your original post above is a different story...
