Has Warmoth ever made pickups?

I have a Charvel Model 1A and the previous owner said that it has a prefabbed Warmoth pickguard/electronics set and that the humbucker said Warmoth on it when he opened it up. I initially thought it was higher output than my JB on another guitar but now it doesn't give good distortion tone. I'm just trying to figure out this pup. Might want to switch to a Trembucker.

Warmoth labels their pickguards on the inside, but as far as I know they've never made pickups or pickguard assemblies. It's possible somebody along the line changed that pickguard and left the last owner with the impression that Warmoth put all the electronics on it, too. But, Warmoth has always been quite adamant about not assembling anything. Some of their licensing and distribution agreements depend on it. They're purely a parts manufacturer/distributor. You can buy bodies, necks, pickups, pickguards, wire, pots, switches, hardware, etc., but no assemblies.

Could they be confused with Warman? They are a fairly cheap manufacturer known for producing very high output humbuckers, and the font of their logo is not a million miles away from Warmoth's.

The answer to the OP is "no".

The pickguard probably has a Warmoth sticker on it, and somebody along the line decided that meant the entire assembly, which would be false.
