Has anyone installed TV Jones pickups?

I was thinking about TV Jones filter'tron style pickups for a project.

Looking at the mounting dimensions on their website, it appears that in the neck version of their NE Filter'tron and Soapbar (p90 style) mounting options, the polepiece screws are longer than the depth of the pickup and so project below the baseplate.

If this is the case, is it necessary to drill/rout holes or channels to accomodate these projecting screws so the pickup will mount flat to the bottom of the pickup cavity?

I've tried emailing TV Jones but haven't heard anything yet, but maybe someone on here will have experience with these pickups.

I got a set in my latest project , they are the NE  which  is a wood mount similar to P90's  . Just drill a pilot hole and screw them in. There is foam provided for under the pickup .

PS they sound great

If the supplied screws are similar to those supplied for P90s, you'd BETTER drill those pilot holes or you'll strip or break off the screw head getting them installed; been there/done that...

I love TV Jones pickups :icon_thumright: :icon_thumright: :icon_thumright:
Great choice...  Gotta a pair in the geetar below!

:rock-on:

PS  The Classic/Classic plus combo are VERY bright .  I have Supertron/HiLo  in my Gretsch and it is a warmer combo . Both sound great , it's just a matter of what you are after.

Loving the set I have of, Power'tron Plus in the bridge and Power'tron in the neck.

I have La Cabronita Tele (worm-hole) with 1 vol and 1 tone with a 3 way toggle.
Really getting some great sounds using the tone control.
Very very nice puppies indeed.  :headbang:

But notice on most Tele La Cab's with 2 pups (in the showcase) it's  ...
1 Vol and a 3 way toggle
:dontknow:  I find that strange when the tone control really shines with these puppies.

90% of my guitars are 1 vol and 1 tone.

:redflag:  So my Q is ....
If you have NO Tone control.
What do the pickups sound like with just a Vol ?
Would it sound similar to having the tone at 1/2 way ?  :icon_scratch:

Just wondered .......

Never messed with the Filtertrons, but I've installed 2 sets of TV Jones' P-90s. As Greywolf said you just drill the pilot hole and screw them in with foam underneath. The pole screws do protrude out the back, but not far enough to be a problem.

However, I wound up replacing both sets with P-90s from BK. I was just never happy with the TV Jones'. They had a pretty good growl at the bottom, but just seemed dead at the top to me. I am much happier with my BKs.  :dontknow:

It would be closest to having the tone knob on 10.2.  The extra little bit over 10 is just from signal bleed inherent to having the tone pot in the circuit.  Even if it's set at 10 it's making a small impact.

Thanks Auto Bat  :icon_thumright:

I didn't know that .... now I do  :icon_biggrin:
