Ground push-pull pot

Hi all
Can you please tell me how to ground the push-pull pot. On the normal pot you just bend the tab up to the body.
Thanks

Use a small length of wire to connect the tab to another ground point.  It's not required to ground to the body of a specific pot, or even to the body of a pot at all, as long as all your ground wires are connected to a single point.  This can be a spot on the cavity shielding (if there is any), the sleeve of the output jack, or even a washer or dedicated grounding screw or tab attached to the body.

The important thing is that each ground wire only goes to one component.  This prevents what's called a "ground loop", which is multiple paths to ground (leading to potential differences between ground points) and can cause introduce noise to your signal.  You don't want that.

At Kevin's suggestion, I got some of the grounding washers for my next several builds. The ones I got aren't locking but either way, they're a good place to ground things.

Out of curiosity, Rgand, do you put those around a pot bushing or do you just screw them into the body cavity, in contact with the shielding?  I've been considering doing star grounding via ring terminals (or soldering the leads to a toothed washer) and just screwing that against the shielding.

The ones I got just get put on under a pot before you slip it through the hole. Simple and effective.

For those interested, you can get the lugs that fit on pot barrels here...

...for just under $2/set of 4. Beats the snot out of risking your pot's life by soldering to its casing.

Ah yes, those are the ones. Thanks for that, Kevin.

I like to run a piece of small gauge buss wire through both ground lugs of the switch to the top tab of the pot body, which has been scuffed a bit and hit with a little flux (if needed). A small jumper can now be connected to this ground bus to join it at a pot node or elsewhere. This is for occasions where both sides of the switch are configured for coil cutting.

<3 always  :laughing7:

I have actually had success simply wrapping a wire around one of the provided lock washers, securing it with a dab of solder, and sliding it on the pot when installed.  Similar to the ones Cagey and Rgand show but FREE!
