Grooving brass saddles?

Installed a Joe Barden tele bridge on my Esquire build that's nearing completion.  Does anybody groove their brass saddles to hold the string in place?  Mine seem to want to move or touch the height adjusting screws/holes.  Also does anybody know if an ashtray cover will work on that bridge with that cut down area?  Thanks!

I've encountered that myself and have indeed filed slots in the saddles to eliminate it. Nut files are the ideal tool for the job, but a triangle file can work in a pinch.

Can't help you with the ashtray cover. I'm a fan of the 3 saddle ashtray bridge but never have used a cover, I rely too much on palm muting!
