Does anyone have any experiences good or bad with the Gotoh vintage tuners? I'd like to use vintage style tuners on my Jazzmasters and I'd like to know if they are worth it.

I've used the Gotoh vintage tuners. They're a good value and have nice smooth action. I'm a really big fan of the Gotoh vintage locking tuners - old school looks with modern function!

What he said. I've got a set of the vintage locking tuners, and I really like them.  :icon_thumright:

Yeah, they're worth it like an outhouse is worth more than indoor plumbing, or a buggy whip is better than a gas pedal, or the USPS is better than email, or tube-based B&W TVs are better than LED backlit color HD LCDs.

What is the fascination with ancient hardware? I see that crap and all I can think about is how I'm being handed an automatic $80 bill, assuming I do the work myself to replace the bloody things. I'd be embarassed to be seen with them, because whoever's looking would assume I'm an idiot who's too stupid to put decent hardware on his guitar when it's so readily available.

The best (IMHO) are the height adjustable locking ones...

Actually the nonlocking kind are $25 and hold tune as well as anything, and the locking kind are $60 and are as good a tuner as I've ever seen. They just look vintage. Calm down buddy.

I'm plenty calm enough. The guy asked, and I hate to see anyone burn up perfectly good dollars <grin>

I'm not sure how much good throwing money at Japanese manufacturers is for our economy, but I suppose somebody here is carving off a slice for themselves, so it's probably not all bad. It's gotta be better than letting the unions get it.

If you won't buy from union shops ( :icon_scratch:) and won't buy overseas, what the hell do you drive cagey?

I like cagey, but he's an idiot sometimes, as i am too, he doesn't see the big picture. He's got opinions that suit him

Objection: Assuming facts not in evidence.

I'm pretty confident that drinking alcohol and smoking tobacco aren't healthy, but I do both. I also buy imported and union-made goods/services.
