im extremely new with building guitars and one thing i dont know is what glues im supposed to use for putting in the nut and ferrules
should i just be using superglue?

superglue can be disastrous if you use too much and need to replace your nut in the future.

I've always heard white glue under the nut as the pressure of the strings also holds it in place and its easier to remove the nut if you have to.

Last nut I replaced didn't even get glue. I tapped it in gently to test for fit, and it wouldn't come out, so I left it without any adhesive.

Frank Ford uses "Tight-Bond" which is basically carpenters yellow wood glue.... white glue can be ok, but it can also "walk".  The yellow glues have that "walk" property as bad as their white-glue cousins.

www.frets.com has a lot on glue
