For a c-note, I may have to break down and buy one of these....

Is it true bypass? Does it have airy mids and sparkly highs? And more importantly, is this memory cable able to remember that when I plugit, it does not need to keep coiling up and make a mess?

If it doesn't have airy mids and/or sparkly highs, what effin' good is it?  Srsly, though, it'd be pretty bitchin' to have a version of the recorder you can just stick in your signal path using standard 1/4" cables.  And you'd probably have better margins, since you wouldn't have the extra packaging and materials and labor associated with permanently attaching the cables.  And you could employ a form-factor that affords a little better user-interface, since you're not constrained quite so rigorously by the 3/4" cylinder that thing is in.

But it is a neat idea, and even a useful one.

Doesn't Line 6 make something like that? I think it makes more sense than the Gibson solution, because what are you going to do when the cable in which their recorder is built fails?  :-\

That's precisely my reasoning:  Do I want to have to trash a $100 recorder because the mandatory included cable takes a crap?
