Geckos aren't available with a precision route. Is the neck pickup location, or the sweet spot a better location for a P-bass sound? What's a good P pickup that fits in a Warmoth route - either EMG40/45 or MM5. I guess MM5 if the preferred P-bass spot is closer to the MM sweet spot than the Warmoth "neck" position.
Once in a while I get to hankering for a long scale p-bass with skinny string spacing. Mostly I like the picked p-bass thunder. Actually tapewound with a pick is about *perfect* in terms of just enough brightness without being all fret/pick noise. I'm NOT a fan of anorexic J-pickups that are all midrange snarl, it needs to rattle the foundations in an articulate manner.
