Fret tangs on a maple neck/fretboard with gloss finish

Random question: If a Warmoth neck is maple with a maple fretboard and gloss finish, are the fret tangs on the edge of the fretboard/neck still noticeable to the touch? I'm thinking that all the gloss finish would make it completely smooth so you can't feel the presence of the tangs at all. Feeling the fret tangs on the side of the neck is a pet peeve of mine. I'd like to spare myself the cost of neck binding if possible.

I have two Warmoth roasted maple necks with rosewood fretboards and no finish. The fret ends are perfectly beveled with smooth fret ends. I cannot feel the tangs on the side of the neck at all.

I think the biggest factors determining if you can feel the tangs or not is going to be temperature and humidity.
