Forgotten guitar player

Hello guys!
Lets see if you can help me!
I remember reading an article on Guitar Player about 10 years ago with a american guitar player, if I'm not wrong, he plays the blues... All I remember is that he had a sunburst strat that had a eagle-alike inlay on 1st fret, told that it was once stolen but he recovered it... Also he used Herco picks...
I searched for this magazine some times and never found the article... Does anybody knows who is it?
