FYI: I LOVE it!

definitely my favorite metallica song out there, but not a huge fan of this version. the acoustic riff at the beginning of that song is just so perfect and recognizable that the acapella intro was just strange. definitely a cool way of looking at the song, but not for me i guess :icon_biggrin:

Thats pretty interesting rendition of a metallica song, so far ive seen cellos do songs, now voice more than anything, pretty awesome.
Glad nobodys really touched the Cliff Burton era music with remakes. at least i dont think they have.

This song -- Battery is from Master of Puppets. The last album Cliff Burton recorded. He died between the release of MoP and ...And Justice for All :-\
Basically, all the stuff from the three first albums, Kill 'Em All, Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets is Burton-stuff. Also, you can hear Cliff's voice on "To Live is to Die", the instrumental song from Justice. :icon_thumright:

Ah i completely forgot Battery was from his last album with them, well thats a good rendition of it.
Just completely forgot haha, need to retake my knowledge of the first three albums!  :icon_tongue:

Say what you want and my opinion but....

PHUCK Mettallica!!!  We would be able to share music on Napster if it wasn't for Lars and the hair spray mafia wouldn't have complained about not getting their royalties!!!  I mean c'mon didn't they make enough money?  So what if I want to illegally download enter sandman?

Whoops I just found an old cassette tape with a skynard album on it that I personally taped...  I should go turn myself in, and write a check to the guys in skynard!!!

Ey... No flaming, eh?
OK, to explain: I do not think that it was because Metallica would lose money, that Lars and the others made such a big thing out of it. I do believe that they didn't want this to happen with new bands, that had to earn money somehow, and Napster put loads of stuff up for free download. Of course, you could always use utilities like PB or LW, but Napster was the most popular and known.

Actually that is James' voice but Burton's lyrics.  Although many were borrowed.

The line, "When a man lies he murders some part of the world," was in Xcalibur in 1981.

I really don't like Lars but the music is their intellectual property. They deserve to get paid for it. They don't decide how rich they get the market does. File sharing has made it so that you don't have to buy cd's anymore but now you have to pay $80 for a concert ticket. So yeah I guess you showed them.

I love these guys!!!

I don't give a rat's parasite ridden cheek whether or not metallica was killed napster or not. JUST TALK ABOUT THE COTTON PICKIN' MUSIC!!!!

Btw, that cover is awesome.  :icon_thumright: I just sent it to everyone in my old community college acapella group! I think that it'd be worth our time.

Community College acapella group????? Really????? I didn't know people really did that. Were you the guitar player?

Nice rockskate, sounds like fun. think you would loose your voice if ever tried for whom the bell tolls  :toothy12:
and on the napster note yeah im sure lars did it to help new bands get the money they deserve, im sure none was related to them loosing money, but of course the press and yokels thought of it that way. as they always do.

Rodrigo y Gabriela are freaking awesome.  Rodrigo is a damned fine player, but I think Gabriela's combo of playing and percussion is the highlight of that group.

As for Napster, as I recall the story at the time was that they got pissed because four different versions of I Disapear, the song for Mission: Impossible II, were on Napster before they were out of the studio.  It sucks for them because clearly somebody in the studio deserved to be fired, but I don't know how much it was about the money.  They don't make a majority of their money on the CDs as is.  Merch and Concerts are where they get paid.  That's not saying that CDs don't pull in solid coin for them, but my understanding is that is not where they make the vast majority of their money.  The record labels are the jackholes that killed Napster.  That and motherf***ing, godd***ed hackers filling it up with every virus known to man.  I hate hackers more than anybody.  A bunch of damned thieves is all they are.
