I'm getting ready to buy all the stuff for my first non-kit build. As far as I can tell, I've got everything I need to purchase in my list. Am I missing anything?

I'm building this guitar to play metal and hard rock, mostly rhythm with the occasional lead here and there. I'm curious to hear opinions on my choices of wood.

I noticed a few things you might want to take a look at.

1. I don't know what style of jack comes with the Blackouts, but the 3/4" jack hole can be a little small for switchcraft jacks and others, requiring filing or grinding to work. The 7/8" hole is easier to work with and the square jack plate covers it just fine.

2. You probably want one tall and one short pickup mounting ring. The bridge pickup will need to be up higher due to the bridge and the angled neck joint.

3. You need to add neck screws. Make sure you get the staggered set (2 long, 2 short) since your LPS will have a contoured heel.

4. You need humbucker mounting ring screws to mount the humbucker rings to the body.

I may have missed something, but these jumped out at me. Good luck!

I know the Blackouts come with a stereo jack, but that's it. I guess it's probably better to go with the 7/8" to be safe as you suggested.

I couldn't tell from reading the descriptions whether I'd need two short mounting rings with the Schaller 456 bridge or a short and tall as you suggested. I guess for $3.50 I can just get an extra short mounting ring just in case the bridge is too low for a tall. I also noticed when looking at the online catalog again that I should be getting the curved mounting rings since I'm getting a carved top LPS.

I figured I was missing some screws, but wasn't sure if some of the parts came with them or not.

Thanks.
