First build - Soloist and a surprise

My first build - a “keep it simple” soloist. Alder body, roasted maple neck with rosewood board. Two Fralin mini-humbuckers, hard tail and Danish Oil/wipe-on poly finish. The surprise was how great it plays. I've been fooling with guitars for over 50 years and I'm not really very good, but this is the best-playing guitar I have ever had. The 44mm nut, low-wide frets, and unfinished roasted maple are like butter. Great balance and resonance and sustain for days. My Casino and Mexican Strat are nice, but this is another level - for me and my level of playing at least. Anyway, sorry to gush, but this was definitely worth it.

Next working on a KNS-6 with a couple of Fishman P90s. At least that's the plan for now.

Pickups sound great - to my ears. But as I said, I’m no expert. Smooth rhythm on the neck without the harshness I sometimes hear in the Strat. The bridge has plenty of bite for soloing. I would recommend them.
