Hey everybody,

I finally did it...... I ordred a neck for my 7/8 body.  Probably everybody might not like my idea, buuuuuuuuuut
it's important that I like it, right!

This is the body I am talking about:

I ordered

neck:                        7/8 warhead / Wamoth Pro
shaft/fingerboard:    bloodwood/bloodwood
nut width:                1 11/16
back contour:          '59 roundback
fingerboard radius:  10-16" compound
fingerboard length:  24 frets
fret size:                  6150
tuners:                      Schaller (24"/64", 11/32")
string nut:                Graph Tech black Tusq XL

on top I ordered everything else, as well the p/ups.
Pearly Gates for Bridge and quarter pounder for neck and middle.
The hardware will be in chrome, except for the switch knob and the Humbucker (will be in black).

Bye for now
JULIA

It'd be even better if those frets said "SS6150"
I bet it'll make a killer guitar when it's all finished.

You're going to love Bloodwood. It's like red Ebony.
So Red Ebony is like Bloodwood  :toothy10:

I think what Cagey means here, is that it will be ---- Sex on a Stick  :icon_biggrin:

Congrats on finally getting things together.
Not my type of Body finish .... But hey we can't be all the same.

Interesting Pup choice too  :dontknow:

Thanks to everyone......

@updown,

Rob advised me to get those p/ups. He says he has them on one of his guitars and he loves to play it.
I wanted a little more "rocky" sound, but no ceramic p/ups.
Is the choice bad?

@Autobat

for the 7/8th Warhead they didn't offer those frets. Should I call in again and ask about the SS frets ?

Bye  JULIA

It should be an available option. (Unless there's something different about the 7/8 necks that I don't know about.)

No I didn't say it was a bad choice, just interesting  :icon_biggrin:
(Not something I'd think of using)

Choice is up to you.

@Updown,

well, which p/ups woud you advise then for a little rockier sound?

@ Cagey

I already ordered to get the SS frets...... aren't I fast?

What's not to like!  I'm interested in how this works out for you.  Please keep us updated.

Oh and, yes, call and ask about the SS frets.  I've become a big fan of them.

One can only hope <grin>

As for rockier pickups, it's always difficult to say. To my ears, the Seymour Duncan JB's (SH-4/TB-4) are awesome pickups for the bridge position. But, I certainly haven't tried them all, and the guitar itself makes a difference.

Bottom line is, you put something in to get a baseline, then going by the manufacturer's description of that pickup versus others you may decide to replace it. I think the important point there is you have to eliminate the variable of subjective judgment, which sorta means you have to ignore what everybody says in favor of a single source of criticism. That way, when you read that a pickup is "brighter" (or whatever), you'll know what they mean in relative terms.

Cagey sort of said what I was gunna say  :icon_thumright:
Besides what I would get for myself would most probably be totally different to what you and many others would go for.
(Just a fact of life, and choices)

If it was MY guitar I was building, I'd put a JB or Custom 5 in the bridge (for more balls)
I'd probably have it routed as Strat single routs.
Like this  :icon_biggrin:  ..... http://www.unofficialwarmoth.com/index.php?topic=19843.0
But if it was Tele routs like yours.
A Little 59' (middle) BUT .... that one is ceramic.

Don't forget my opinion is only one of 1,000,000,000,000,000  :icon_biggrin:

Just go with what you want  :icon_thumright: ........  or it'll be years before it's finished  :icon_jokercolor:

I think you'll like this combination Julia. The Quarter Pounders are big and ballsy. Rocky as you describe them. They have a lot of punch for single coils and should match up well with the smoother Pearly Gates.

I'll be interested to hear how it sounds, if/when you can post some sound clips. I think the punchiness of the pickups will balance well with the brightness of the woods you've selected.

Hey all of you,

I placed the change of order, now it's going to be SS frets.......hopefully
Talked to Rob and he's quite positive he can handle that.

You'll be much happier. Stainless frets are the greatest thing since strings.

Hey Juwell, very timely topic....I too will be ordering a 7/8 neck for my Tele shortly. I just posted a question asking about jumbo frets. I will hound you for pictures when your neck arrives :icon_biggrin: 6150 fret size is what I am thinking..........Two 7/8 builds going on here, cool

Pete

I have 2 of those bloodwood necks, one bloodwood/bloodwood and the other bloodwood/macassar ebony, they are heavy but love them, here a pic
