Figured Mahogany neck... cheesy pics; what body?

So, here it is!  Figured Mahogany, ebony fretboard, MOP inlays, 1 11/16" nut.  I took these pics outside my office because I was excited to show a friend, but they don't do justice to the iridescence of the Mahogany.  It's stunning and shimmery in person.  In a few of the pics, there's morning dew from the shrub i was setting it on, lol.  I'm not sure what body to use this with.  My wife thinks it should be an offwhite Strat body with a tortoise guard, or else black with the same.  I'm learning towards Jazzmaster in black.  I just don't see any transparent finishes that wouldn't distract from the wood, but I'm open to suggestions.

Here's the one bad thing... there was a ding that made the finish flake off a bit.  I'm not upset at all; I just want advice on how to fix it easily.  These things happen:

Random weird tree pic!

Hey can you send me some of those neck seeds. I want to grow a few necks in my garden too!  :laughing7:

Flake Green body. Maybe it's the first picture but I think it would go well with the brown neck.

I think figured Bubinga would look very nice with it or these figured Redwood on Unique Choice...

This neck looks espetacular! :P

Nice neck and pristine paint work except for the ding.

If the ding is quite deep and bare wood is exposed, you can steam it out with a soldering iron and a wet towel.  To repair the paint work, you can try superglue to build up the level, light sanding and then final buff.  Make sure you use masking tape to cover rest of the headstock and only exposing the area that needs repair.

Ding may be easier to fix with a super glue drop fill... depends on the ding, etc etc

PICTURE time for that one

A dark blue transparent finish over a subtle-grained wood like Alder would be a nice contrast to the Mahogany, and would bring out the lighter grain features.

+ 1, that would look terrific. Though I'd also suggest you could go with a Mahogany body & a white pickguard (maybe white pu's as well), which would break up the all wood look.  It might be hard to match the coloring, but you're not likely to end up with something ugly.

Unless you go with a neon pink basswood soloist.  :icon_jokercolor:

The funny thing about that is that I have a pink strat (ok, another pink strat) that I'm refurbishing an OLD Warmoth Birdseye maple 24 fret 16" radius neck for, and my wife picked up the body and said, "oh maybe...," looked at it and made this disgusted noise that still makes me laugh to think about.

You know, I've always been a fan of the standard thin, but this '59 roundback is just beefy enough to be playable for my hands.  To me, it "feels" like it sustains more.  I say this from experience with my Tele's '59 roundback.  I don't think you'll be disappointed.
