Any suggestions on how I can replicate this finish. Here is a link with some pictures of the desired finish.

Thanks :)

Tonar is the resident expert  :icon_thumright:  for that Q

He'll no doubt see this post, he'll be able to direct you and maybe others will chime in too.
Tis a very nice finish  :headbang:

Fill ash body with black grain filler.

Shoot with Mohawk Ultra® Classic Toner Dark Red Mahogany (http://www.mohawk-finishing.com/catalog_browse.asp?ictNbr=171)

Shoot top gloss nitro coats.

Note that the Mohawk toner is transparent and that it will appear darker the more you spray.

That dark red mahogany finish is awesome! I've never done anything like this now, is it hard to fill the grain or finish for that matter?

Ooh i want that guitar!
I guess itll have to get in line behind the 40 or so other guitars i want to make too. :toothy11:

Grain filling ash is not hard, as in complex.  The steps are simple, and require no particular expertise or exotic tools or gear.  You may have to repeat the steps multiple times, however, to get ALL the grain filled ALL the way.  The hard part is persisting at it and not burning the house down in frustration when it take three, four, five or more shots at filling the grain before it's all glassy smooth.

Here is an excellent how-to video from Behlen, one of the major manufacturers of wood finishing products:

I've got one more question about this and it's going to show just how little I know about finishing. I plan on using a chambered body...will this make a difference in how I finish it?
