I've been stuck on BKs for such a long time, I've become wholly ignorant of other great options on the domestic market.

I'm looking for a fat and mid-rangey bridge humbucker for my upcoming Gotoh-floyded strat (chambered alder).  Not looking for a metal pickup - something more along the lines of a PAF+ output level.  Other attributes that are important include dynamics and responsiveness to the volume pot.  Will be mainly used to pull lead duties.  Some pickups I've had in the past include:

Gibson: 498/500T, Burstbucker 1-3
SD: Custom, Custom Custom
Dim: TZ, Gravity Storm, PAF Pro (holy fat mama in my former MM Silhouette Special!), EVO
Bare Knuckle: VHII, Abraxas, Crawler, Holy Diver, Miracle Man
EMG: 81

Any ideas?

TIA

The Dimarzio Evolution is nice & flat with a slight mid notch, very versatile, rides the fine line between slightly overwound and PAF'ish in output.  Cleans up nicely.

Hi, Frank -

I recently played a Kiesel loaded with their Lithium pups at the new factory showroom in Escondido.  I was totally blown away by the definition and responsiveness of those pickups.  I plan to grab a set for my next build.  If it's not too much of a haul for you from Orange County, I'd seriously recommend checking them out.  They were tremendously functional when split - not thin and crapped-out sounding - but really useful Strat-ish noises.  And in HB configuration, going through one of those insanely overdriven Mesa amps, I was very favorably impressed by how each string sounded out individually, and how varying my pick attack yielded wide variations in pickup behavior, whether in clean, kinda-gain-y, or full-bore amp distortion modes.

Also available in black, white, cream, or zebra (B/W or B/C). I guess Jeff Kiesel's not afraid of Dimarzio's purported trademark on two cream coils.

Thanks, dudes.

Baggy - that guitarist doing the demo blew my mind. Really impressive for a modern set of hunbuckers.  Wow I'd consider doing an HxH with those. I was not expecting that.

The eqing isn't where I'd leave things on the gainier tones, but the lack of mids made for some really nice cleans.  Again for a modern set of pickups, Im really impressed.

Fat with a Floyd? DiMarzio Breed would be my pick. It's a fantastic pickup that was specifically designed to be....um.....fat with a Floyd.

All research points to this being an excellent option.

Maybe he figures the torx head screws change the appearance enough that DiMarzio won't attack. Or, maybe DiMarzio's already threatened and Jeff said "bite me!", but has yet to be bitten. Litigation isn't free, in money or goodwill. DiMarzio could conceivably do themselves more harm than good pursuing an infringement suit based on such a frivolous trademark. I know myself I already tend to not look at DiMarzio products because of it. I don't have anything against trademarks - in fact, I think they're a Good Thing. But, not when the system is abused like that.
