I didn't want to slag on the guy's youtube video, and it is cool. But the river guitar... I like the concept. But I'm not crazy about a Dan Amstrong guitar with wooden wings. I think this could be really cool to find some piece of really twisted splitting wood with some big splits, and fill it with dyed and glittered epoxy. Heck maybe even shove some LED's inside the dyed glitterpoxy. A real Fire Crackle finish.

The guy is creative. I like his river guitar much better than the others. What'll he come up with next?

Hey guys...a very mean-spirited post has been removed, and a warning has been issued. I also removed several other posts related to it, because without it they were oddly out of context.

Be kind to each other.

Period.

If this needs to be codified for you, here it is in the forum rules:

These types of posts will simply be deleted so that we can promote a helpful, positive guitar and bass building community. I came away from NAMM this year thinking that epoxy-infused woods were going to be the next big thing. I saw tons of them, and many were incredibly creative.

The one in this picture was probably the best of them all. It's a little hard to see, but the wood has been cut into tiny little cubes, which are falling away into the "void" of the epoxy. I talked to the builder about how he accomplished it. Suffice it to say it was incredibly painstaking and time-consuming. The guitar was not cheap, but the results were breathtaking.

If all that is not enough, also check out the fretboard inlay....and note how the very end of the fretboard also has little cubes of wood falling into the body!

I wish I had asked him how he hid the control cavity rout and wiring from the pickup!

Amazing!

I thought it was pretty clever, using those live edges to form a natural-looking valley. Couldn't have faked that nearly as well.

I've seen the pencil guitar builds before, and I find them interesting.. but not really my thing.  Now, that river guitar..  I'm a sucker for nicely figured woods, so that's pretty killer.  I was curious about the weight on these as well.  That river guitar is the same as your run of the mill Les Paul, so considering it's basically solid maple and epoxy I didn't feel like that was too bad considering.  Especially since maple is usually a pretty heavy wood to begin with.  Cool stuff.
