A few years ago I bought MIJ Geddy Lee black body bass from a local music store during a 20% off sale.  For me it’s a wonderful feeling and playing bass.  I love the tone, but I've always wanted a sunburst body.  So for the past year, I've been on the Warmoth site looking at sunburst bodies.  When I found one I liked, I lacked the funds to purchase it.  When I had the money the body I liked had been sold.  A few weeks ago the stars were aligned and this body came up in the Showcase.  I immediately bought it. Attached are some photos of it just out of the box and the finished bass.  Thanks Warmoth for helping me achieve my Dream Bass.

Congratulations, its cool when a dream comes together. After all we are only immortal for a limited an infinite time  :icon_thumright:

Edit, adapted reference to Neil Pearts lyric to reflect that immortality actually can not be limited.

Wow! That's a Stunner! Did you do that pick guard yourself? It really sets it off nicely. Congrats!

Cheers.........................Todd

Beautiful. Very nice job. How did you do the design on the pickguard? It looks pretty cool.

I am an artist by profession and a musician for fun.  I sketched out a few ideas in a sketchbook I carry with me.  Once I had the design I liked I scanned it into Photoshop.  I also scanned in a jazz pick guard to use as a guide.  I read the scans in to Adobe Illustrator to use as a template for the final vector image.  I do a bunch of work for a friend who has a print shop.  He took my finish file and printed out a sticker.  I've attached a closer view of the body.

Bassadelic - maybe you're onto something... I bet you could figure out a price point that works for you and for potential customers and offer a custom pickguard art service... maybe have a few designs as idea starters... I expect a builder community like this might have people who want to tap into your creativity/skillz???

Thanks for the idea muns53.  I may do that in the future.

Judging by this communities response to customized neck plates, it might be worthwhile. It certainly adds a nice personal flare to the instrument. Killer bass you have there. I love a sunburst body, and the maple neck with black block inlays, for me, is where it's at with a J Bass.
