Dimensions on wood to block a floyd?

There is no standard spec for this. There's too many variables. If you want exact your best bet is to measure what you got.

Yeah, I actually just went ahead and took whatever shit I had lying around, including some flat wooden sticks, two coins and some leftover floyd nut shims  :occasion14:

I thought you were a Floyd fan? Why are you trying to block one?

I am.  But this german made OFR (on a Warmoth) has been worn out. After TWO years! What a pile of crap.

The knife edges are rough and has a hard time staying in tune.

I've tried new springs (both OFR and Gotoh) and also checked the locking nut and oiling the edges etc etc.

When I first built the guitar I could have it staying in tune for days at home, and I even played two nights of gigs in a row without even touching the fine tuners, and I did plenty of trem work.

After that build, I've also made a couple of other Floyd builds, and they have worked out perfectly just like that one.

But I used Gotoh Floyds for those.

I will never use OFR again, I'm going all Gotoh now.

(oh and I'm not the only one... a friend of mine bought a super expensive $4000 ESP guitar with OFR and now after 2 years the guitar can't stay in tune even with new springs... He haven't checked the knife edges, but I can't see why it wouldn't be that from my own experience. I mean, seriously! The modern OFR are a joke!)

I'm still on my Gotoh on my TFS6, 19+ years and running!

Keep it maintained, performs wonderfully, although I am considering a big block for it.  I just recently acquired a replacement nylon bushing for the arm.  That's the only thing that has worn out on it thus far, besides my wrist buffing out some of the gold finish on the E, A, D string saddles.

The way to do it is to make two wedges. Put a dab of glue just to tack it into place.  The wedges mean you can get a perfect fit every time.

Or, you can load it up with one of these as a compromise.

May still give you some functionality.
