Does anyone have experience with this PU? It's supposed to be a silent P90 that when split, sounds like an authentic cingle coil. It's ceramic, so I would think it would be clear & tight.

I used it, but since people don't like to take me/my word for it, I'll just post some 'objective' facts about it.

When you split it, to the weakest coil, the sound gets very thin (subj.) but the output drops down like crazy (obj). With the other coil on, the output drop is there, but less than with the other coil (obj). when you put those 2 coils in series, the 2 signals are summed up. the strongest coil is the carrierwave, the weak coil is the modulation-wave (but weak, since the coil is weak).

the tone you hear when the pickup is in series, will, thus, be somewhat like the tone when split. but a bit noisier (obj) and its got a bit less 'balls' (subj).

everywhere were it's 'obj' its an objective observation, and subj. is subjective, aka: my opinion.

Hmmmmm......I still have no idea what you think it sounds like, tone wise  :icon_scratch:

Does it sound like a P-90 or a fat single coil? Do you like the tone? What kind of guitar is it in? etc etc etc. Don't hold back, I want to hear anything you have to say about this PU.

Trying to explain what something "sounds" like is very tricky and subjective. I've never used the BluesBuckers, but at least one thing that Orpheo is trying to explain is that if you split the pickup, the resulting sound/tone is very thin and output is reduced very noticibly. This is somewhat typical of lower output "vintage" tone humbuckers.

The sound clip provided on the DiMarzio BloesBucker page is less than worthless to try to tell anything.

Haven't seen many posts on that pickup on this board that I can recall.

it sounds like a beefed up singlecoil, with the dirt of a p90 . not a real p90 soundlike the duncanprail, not a real humbucker, It's sound, but it never convinces. well, not me at least.
