Dimarzio Air Classic = criminally underrate

I've had a set of Air Classic's here for a while & never put them into anything. I just swaped my Duncan Custom 5 for the Air Classic while I await my Bluesbucker, & this PU sounds INCREDIBLE. Smooth warm vintage tone, with a bit more cut & slightly scooped mids. Once I take these out, I will have no home for this, so it looks like a Les Paul build is in the cards.  :hello2:

those are some sweet pickups. Personally i was really unsatisfied with the bluesbuckers though.
what kinda guitar you got it in?

I have a chambered mahogany strat. I ordered a neck position Dimarzio 36th anniv PAF for the bridge & a bluesbucker for the neck.

Supposedly the bluesbucker sounds like a fatter single coil or a P90 & once I install the Duncan triple shot, I'll be able to switch to series/parallel/split modes easily. On paper it seems like a good choice, but hopefully it works out in real life as well.

Well YMMV. I had it in my Artist and I dunno. Maybe I didn't know what I was getting into. Didn't sound nearly clear enough to me to be like a single coil, but didn't have enough body to do what the PAF did. Overall it just didn't do anything for me. But that's been a finicky guitar so your mileage may vary.
I'd be interested to see what you think of it though. Let me know

The Dimarzio tech wrote me & said that It will be tighter with the adjustable poles towards the bridge, but a little smoother in the other direction, so perhaps switching it around will fix your problem.

I want a tighter more defined tone, so I'll try with the poles towards the bridge. If all else fails, I'll split it.

I have a Duncan 59  in my alder strat & it sounds woofy & thick in the neck, but as soon as I split it, it sounds amazing.

It's hard to find an neck humbucker that cuts through, is tight & defined, yet still has a warm vintage tone.
