Finally finished this thing!
Recap:
Bought the body off Ebay in April. It is solid Padauk with 2 Limba (White Korina) "stripes". After lots of sanding (my garage looked like a paprika factory) it looked like this. Notice the body and the neck are the same color.
The neck is a Warmoth standard thin, Padauk, 10-16" radius, with stainless steel frets.
I did not do any sort of grain filler at all. Just 26 thin coats of Tru oil. You can see the open gain in this picture. The 2 "dots" are not smudges in the finish. They are the reflection of the speakers in my ceiling.
Here it is, all complete with Bare Knuckle Piledrivers. With the Tru-oil, it turned a beautiful maroon color. I left the neck raw.
Of course the guitar isn't complete unless it has a cool strap as well
Neck plate. Kind of cheesy, but I think it works.
I understand now how people with an all maple body guitar says that it really brings out the low end. It must be the high density of the wood. I hit an open E and you can just feel the body resonating like mad.
The BKP Piledrivers - Wow! Can easily be used for some Pantera. IMHO it sounds best with a tube screamer, just smooth.
Any guesses on the final weight of this beast?
