here she is in all her glory.  Posted the parts not too long ago in the out of the box area.

Daphne Blue swamp ash (solid) body with contoured heel.
Birdseye warmoth pro neck - vintage tint, SS6150, std thin, 10-16".
Mint pick guard
neck - Dimarzio Area 67
bridge - Dimarzio Tone Zone
Wilkinson VS100
two vol knobs, one DPDT for the TZ

Very happy overall!  Was a great learning experience and ended up with a cool custom axe.    Looks trick enough to not think it's some off the shelf fender, and sounds pretty bichin.

Still have some tweaking to do on the electronics.    The Area 67 sounds absolutely gorgeous clean - glassy and shimmery with loads of definition and very sensitive to pick attack.  It doesn't scream on high gain but still has that Jimi tone.  TZ rocks hard when dirty, but is kinda muddy in low gain.  Not sure if it's the height (set pretty low currently) or not but i'm not really impressed on how it cleans up.  Any suggestions?    In split coil mode the TZ sounds actually quite nice - quacky and trebly single coil sound.    When both pups on together it doesn't really do it for me so plans to use the middle position much.    I also am finding that the signal is cutting out too fast when rolling off the volume on the guitar.    Maybe need put some caps in the circuit as there are none now.  Suggestions there too pls....

It looks nice, well done.

What pot values and wiring do you have on the guitar ?

It sounds like you may have 250 K and 5OO k may be worth a try.

For the volume roll off a treble bleed can be used, which there are a few types. The video link shows some options.

hey - I'm using 500k pots.  thanks for the link.

On closer inspection the Area 67 does sing pretty nicely with high gain - just doesn't have the roar of the Tone Zone, so back to back you get quite a contrast.    Maybe not the most logical pairing of pickups but since I don't plan on having a million guitars, I don't mind having one with multiple personalities.
