Custom neck plate courtesy of DangerousR6.  Chambered black korina one-piece body and quartersawn maple neck.

She's a carved top Velocity.  Quilt maple top with washed blue dye.

Maple fingerboard with Azurite/Malchite dots, SS6115 frets.

And a matching pegface.

A couple of overview shots.

Hardware will be black with a TOM/STP.  The neck is a 24 3/4" conversion.  Pickups will be DiMarzio Area 58 for the neck slot and a PAF 36th Anniversary in the bridge slot.

I almost wish I would have gotten an ebony fingerboard, but the maple will do.

This will easily take the place of the obligatory Les Paul slot in my collection, with a couple of twists, even though it is not a Les Paul.  :laughing7:

She sure is good lookin Doc :occasion14:

Always leaving the door open for another build :headbang:

Wowzers.  That is truly a lovely couple of parts.  I was thinking I'd eventually get around to doing a blue dye job on my VW body I've got laying around here, and now I'm convinced.

@Pabloman:  Thank you for the kind words, sir.  I need to NOT leave the door open for another build, lol!

@Surf n Music:  Yes, it finally got here!  I wonder if it was a lot of work to match the color to the dots, as it seems to match impeccably.  Thanks!

@DangerousR6:  Thanks, bud!  But you already knew all about it.  :laughing7:  Thanks for the awesome neck plate for it.

@DMRACO:  Thanks, man.  I hope this one turns out as well as some of the ones you have build!  It's a pretty cool body, actually.

@Bagman67:  Thank you!  Regarding the blue dye job on the VW, it works!  Looking forward to seeing it done!

@Cagey:  :headbang1:  ( :laughing7:)

You're totally welcome Brent...Guitar looks amazing... :headbang1:

Now just be sure and put the maple neck on Abominable.... :icon_thumright:

I'm thinking I found a better neck for Abominable.  It's a canary neck with a macassar ebony fingerboard.  It is a Strat headstock, but I plan to cut it into an Ibanez-shaped one.

Gorgeous, is one of those holes for a toggle?

Thanks, Tony.  Indeed it is.  Good eye.  I plan to enlarge the middle hole for a 3 way toggle.

Very cool...I suspect you may have kicked off any number of Velocity builds by folks who weren't yet
sure whether they liked the body style. It looks as if it's a relatively small body--is that so? And also,
it's always a bonus when the guitar's back is just as gorgeous as the front--and you've sure got one of those!

Thanks, Great Ape, for all the kind words.  Agreed, the black korina turned out to be a nice piece of lumber.  The body is actually not that small.  It is about two inches shorter, lengthwise, than a Strat body, but it is the same width.

It's a pretty cool body style, IMHO.

Oh boy oh boy!! :o

Can't wait to get mine!!!

Are you direct mounting the HB or going with Rings?
